Senior Backend Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: United States; remote

Salary: $150,000–$169,000 per year, plus performance bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, scope, implement, test, and deliver complex systems across application, infrastructure, networking, and security layers.
• Break initiatives into milestones, estimate delivery timelines, communicate risks, and support predictable releases.
• Build clear, well-tested, maintainable software and create documentation for systems and models.
• Own reliability, monitoring, logging, instrumentation, performance, scalability, and security for the systems you build.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, quality improvements, and operational automation.
• Partner with product, security, infrastructure, and other stakeholders; mentor IC1 and IC2 engineers and contribute to technical interviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering complex systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Go, with experience building complex production-grade APIs and services.
• Hands-on AWS or Azure experience, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, private endpoints, and cloud execution environments.
• Experience across multiple stack layers, including applications, databases, infrastructure, or security.
• Strong understanding of reliability, monitoring, performance optimization, databases, caches, queues, events, and workers.
• Solid networking and security knowledge, including routing, switching, VPN protocols, DNS, firewalls, and hardening practices.
