z/OS Mainframe Programmer (Assembler)

Location: Remote within the United States; US citizenship and active IRS MBI Clearance required.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance legacy mainframe applications supporting IRS tax processing, compliance, and data management.
• Write, test, troubleshoot, and debug programs using Assembler, JCL, IBM z/OS utilities, and tools such as IBM Debug Tool, FILE Manager, and SDSF.
• Monitor and manage batch jobs through SDSF to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Manage code changes and version control with Endevor in accordance with IRS change management procedures.
• Transfer and integrate data using FTP/SFTP and mainframe file management tools.
• Analyze requirements, design enhancements, document system specifications, and support modernization and system integration efforts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Assembler Language programming and JCL.
• Experience with IBM z/OS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, Endevor, and FTP/SFTP or mainframe file transfers.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with IBM Debug Tool, FILE Manager, and SDSF.
• Understanding of QSAM access methods.
• US citizenship and active IRS MBI Clearance required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of tax processing systems.
• Experience with SSA, SSAE, SSAF, or IDRS IRS applications.
