Principal Solutions Architect (Databricks)

Location: Multiple locations; fully remote. Travel of approximately 25% is required for client work, partner meetings, and industry events.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery, architecture sessions, proposals, statements of work, proof-of-concept builds, and competitive evaluations for Databricks opportunities.
• Design Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, workflow orchestration, and Mosaic AI.
• Serve as lead architect on strategic enterprise engagements from kickoff through production handoff.
• Set technical direction for teams of three to six engineers and resolve Spark performance, governance, streaming, migration, and cost challenges.
• Own the technical relationship with Databricks field, partner, and product teams and build the co-sell motion.
• Develop certification programs, reusable architecture patterns, technical marketing, and partner tier and specialization roadmaps.

Requirements

• Eight or more years in data engineering, data architecture, or platform engineering, including at least four years architecting Databricks production environments.
• Solutions Architect-level expertise in Databricks, including Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, Delta Live Tables, MLflow, and Mosaic AI.
• Fluency in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated pre-sales experience, including technical discovery, proposal architecture, and competitive deal support.
• Enterprise delivery experience, including at least one large-scale migration to Databricks from a legacy warehouse, Hadoop, or homegrown Spark platform.
• Strong executive communication skills and experience working within a technology partner ecosystem.

Nice to have

• Databricks Solutions Architect Champion accreditation or professional Databricks certifications.
• Experience at Databricks or a Gold or Platinum Databricks consulting partner.
• Experience building a partner practice, production GenAI and agent systems, or Snowflake expertise.
• Public technical presence through conference talks, reference architectures, open-source contributions, or community participation.
• Industry experience in private equity, financial services, healthcare, retail, or manufacturing.
