Software Engineer, Backend (AI)

What you will do

• Implement, test, and operate backend services and REST APIs for an agentic AI platform.
• Build message-queue-based asynchronous processing with retries, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and failure recovery.
• Contribute to pipelines that ingest, parse, store, and index large volumes of documents.
• Implement authentication and authorization with OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, and role-based access control for multi-tenant environments.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries, perform live production migrations, and integrate Solr and Qdrant.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, and traces, participate in on-call support, code reviews, technical design reviews, automated testing, and CI maintenance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend services, including incident response.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable language with the ability to work primarily in Python.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; relational databases; schema design; query optimization; and migrations.
• Experience with asynchronous or event-driven processing, message queues, REST APIs, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and observability practices including metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools in software development and the ability to communicate clearly and solve ambiguous problems.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-volume data or document-processing pipelines.
• Experience with Terraform, multi-tenant SaaS architectures, AI/ML systems, or data-intensive applications.
• Experience in legal technology or another regulated industry.
• Exposure to OAuth2, OIDC, and SAML authentication and authorization standards.
