Backend Engineer (AI/Biotech)

What you will do

• Build backend systems that make the automated laboratory programmable.
• Architect data pipelines for large-scale protein characterization data, including binding kinetics, enzyme activity, and chromatography measurements.
• Design APIs that integrate laboratory instruments, robotics, and scheduling systems.
• Turn heterogeneous physical-instrument data into clean, structured datasets.
• Work with scientists and automation engineers to translate molecular biology workflows into reliable, scalable software.
• Build systems that enable precise biology experiments with minimal human intervention.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and building reliable, maintainable production backend systems.
• Experience with backend development in Python and TypeScript, or equivalent backend technologies.
• Experience building data pipelines and processing infrastructure for large volumes of heterogeneous data.
• Comfort with API design and complex systems integration.
• Interest in biology and enthusiasm for applying software to physical-world experimentation.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
