Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY

Salary: $210,000–$265,000 base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Own the technical architecture for data ingestion pipelines, including schema mapping, validation, transformation, and orchestration.
• Build and operate backend services and cloud infrastructure using Python, Postgres, and Kubernetes.
• Integrate warranty, telematics, ERP, service, field, and aftermarket data from heterogeneous enterprise systems.
• Establish data quality, lineage, monitoring, alerting, and reliability standards.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and customer-facing teams on the technical vision and roadmap for data onboarding.
• Improve engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, technical direction, and mentorship.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with deep, recent Python experience.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed production services with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Strong Postgres and relational data modeling skills, including performance, migrations, and schema design under production load.
• Experience solving data integration problems involving heterogeneous sources, inconsistent schemas, and unstructured inputs.
• Experience with technical mentorship, system design, and making pragmatic technology decisions in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to balance rapid MVP delivery with production-grade reliability.
