Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Boston and New York, as well as New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Must be a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, or currently in the U.S. with a valid H1B visa.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable pipelines for ingesting, processing, and storing large healthcare datasets.
• Prepare, clean, structure, and optimize high-quality datasets for LLM and machine learning model training and fine-tuning.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, transformation, and quality-control processes.
• Develop data structures, schemas, models, and dictionaries for efficient model access and utilization.
• Identify and acquire data sources while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, document processes, and improve reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Data Engineering experience focused on big data technologies.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Extensive experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure data storage and processing services.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Healthcare data experience and familiarity with FHIR or HL7 standards.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts and LLM fine-tuning.
• Experience with Apache Airflow or other data orchestration tools.
