Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote or hybrid in Falls Church, Virginia, or San Antonio, Texas; periodic travel may be required. Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy analytics, machine learning, NLP, and AI solutions for healthcare, business, and operational challenges.
• Build generative AI and RAG components using large language models, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval strategies, prompt engineering, and cloud AI services.
• Perform data acquisition, ETL, exploratory analysis, data preparation, feature engineering, validation, predictive modeling, and time-series analysis.
• Develop, test, evaluate, deploy, and monitor AI/ML components for accuracy, reliability, scalability, security, and production performance.
• Create dashboards, visualizations, and analytic products, and develop APIs, data services, and AI-enabled application components.
• Partner with clinical, operational, technical, and client stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate findings, document solutions, and support delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, health informatics, public health, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Two to four years of experience developing data science, analytics, machine learning, or AI solutions in applied project environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data preparation, analytics, model development, testing, and deployment.
• Experience developing and evaluating machine learning models, including feature engineering, train/validation/test design, performance assessment, and error analysis.
• Working knowledge of NLP, large language models, embeddings, RAG, prompt engineering, retrieval approaches, and output evaluation.
• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting military or veteran healthcare systems.
• Experience with Databricks, AWS, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Redshift, or comparable cloud data and AI platforms.
• Experience with generative AI applications, RAG, recommendation systems, chatbots, automated testing, monitoring, or quality assurance for AI solutions.
