Sr Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Remote within Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, California, or Virginia. Washington residents within a reasonable driving distance of Tukwila must work from headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; candidates outside the commute distance in approved states may work remotely.

Salary: $141,800–$173,300 target annual pay range; full annual pay range of $110,100–$204,900. Performance-based compensation incentives may also be available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and document complex cloud-native data solutions and integration services.
• Build and support batch, near-real-time, and API-based data workflows and enterprise data pipelines.
• Implement data governance, metadata management, master data, data quality, lineage, and data curation practices.
• Develop scalable data products supporting reporting, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Improve engineering excellence through CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, coding standards, monitoring, and observability.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, governance, security, platform engineering, and business teams while mentoring data engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of functional data engineering experience and 4 years of experience with Python, Scala, Java, or SQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP and modern data platforms including Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, ODS, data lakes or lakehouses, and cloud integration tools such as Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Azure services including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Azure Storage, Azure Functions, Container Apps, or API Management.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub, Git workflows, pull requests, code reviews, and branching standards.

Nice to have

• Financial services knowledge, including banking, lending, deposits, payments, risk management, and related regulations.
• Experience building AI-ready data products or supporting AI agent architectures.
• Experience with GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Copilot Studio, AI Foundry, MCP integrations, or related AI technologies.
• Knowledge of MDM, metadata, data quality, lineage, cataloging, and governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Azure Purview, or Informatica MDM.
• Experience with test-driven development, unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, and technical presentations.
