Sr. Facilities Mechanical Engineer (EV & Energy Storage)

Location: De Soto, Kansas, United States; onsite. All candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.

Panasonic Energy produces lithium-ion batteries and is expanding a large-scale battery manufacturing facility supporting electric vehicles and sustainable energy solutions.

What you will do

• Operate, design, install, assess, and optimize HVAC, exhaust, plumbing, process distribution, central utility, and associated control systems.
• Lead complex troubleshooting and resolve mechanical system performance and reliability issues.
• Manage or lead facility expansion and upgrade projects involving chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, compressors, air handling systems, cleanrooms, dry rooms, and dust collectors.
• Use system data, trending, and automated fault detection tools to identify failures and implement efficiency improvements.
• Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance, Production, Engineering, vendors, and external stakeholders on maintenance, shutdowns, emergencies, designs, and controls integration.
• Train and mentor facilities staff while maintaining SOPs, technical records, maintenance logs, safety practices, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, MEP construction coordination, facilities engineering, or project management, including leadership or mentoring.
• Experience with Direct Digital Control systems, SCADA interfaces, and integrated mechanical, controls, and production environments.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives, solve complex or ambiguous problems, influence decisions without direct authority, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience reviewing design and construction documents using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and/or Visio, plus data analysis, trending, or fault detection tools.
• Working-level English is required, including reading, writing, and speaking; unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in industrial or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Professional certifications such as CRE, CMRP, CEM, or PE.
• Experience with battery, electronics, automotive, or energy-storage facilities, including cleanroom or dry room systems.
• Experience with energy efficiency, sustainability, reliability programs, SOP development, and PID tuning.
