TL;DR
Senior RF Systems Engineer I Pipeline (RF Communications): Developing payload and TT&C subsystems and supporting hands-on RF payload testing with an accent on RF system design, requirements, and end-to-end product development. Focus on link budget and linearity analysis, ITU constraints, satellite operations, RF licensing, ground station networks, and mission support.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, and the role requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Base salary: $124,000–$170,500 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $144,275–$206,175 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain requirements specifications for RF products, payloads, and TT&C subsystems.
  • Perform payload design trades and analyses to support new business proposals and development decisions.
  • Drive RF system development from requirements assessment and prototyping through space-qualified product delivery and mission support.
  • Develop test plans and procedures, support hands-on RF payload testing, and contribute to GSE and production automation.
  • Prepare product documentation, including interface control documents and user manuals.
  • Support proposals, engineering reviews, customer questions, anomaly troubleshooting, and program delivery schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or another engineering discipline, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated RF knowledge, including link budget analysis and linearity.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications, navigation systems, and related components.
  • Experience accounting for ITU constraints, including PFD limits and DSN protection.
  • Detailed knowledge of satellite operations, RF licensing, and ground station networks.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance required.

Nice to have

  • Existing TS/SCI clearance and extensive space-grade system design experience.
  • Experience with worst-case, reliability, FMECA, thermal, and derating analyses.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF communications systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
  • Experience leading engineering programs, incident investigations, or mentoring others.
  • Project management, conflict resolution, and strong communication skills.
