TL;DR
Senior Ground System Engineer (Space Systems): Providing SETA support for classified space mission ground systems, including architecture, antenna scheduling, C2 interfaces, mission planning data flows, and software integration with an accent on requirements definition, operational readiness, and system performance. Focus on evaluating telemetry and command/status data flows, resolving technical risks and deficiencies, coordinating mission partner onboarding, and preparing recommendations for Government leadership.

Location: On-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado; up to 30% travel

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 annually for Colorado

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership and SETA advisory support for ground system architecture, antenna scheduling, C2 interfaces, mission planning data flows, and software integration.
  • Define and review system and software requirements, high-level designs, interface control documentation, test strategies, and operational baselines.
  • Assess telemetry, command/status data, scheduling data, and operational performance to validate system behavior and identify degradation.
  • Track technical risks, deficiencies, design trades, system performance trends, and mission, schedule, and cost impacts.
  • Coordinate configuration management, testing, mission partner onboarding, risk management, and operational readiness activities.
  • Prepare technical recommendations, reports, briefings, courses of action, and decision materials for Government and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, applied science, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant DoD/IC, Government, or industry experience in systems engineering, ground systems, space mission operations, software architecture, C2 systems, or related mission systems.
  • Experience developing, integrating, fielding, or sustaining software-intensive satellite and ground systems.
  • Knowledge of space operations, ground antenna networks, satellite scheduling applications, RF spectrum considerations, C2 requirements, and mission-user needs.
  • Experience with requirements analysis, configuration and risk management, integrated master schedules, test planning, SOW/PWS review, and stakeholder onboarding.

Nice to have

  • Prior SETA support for a Government program office.
  • Five or more years of SAP and/or SCI experience.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, ACAT I/II acquisition programs, integrated air/space/cyber capabilities, or classified mission environments.
  • Experience with system acceptance planning, interface control working groups, operational testing, exercises, training materials, or readiness activities.
