TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Developing end-to-end mission concepts and system architectures for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft with an accent on requirements engineering, system-level analysis, and mission design. Focus on performing trade studies, deriving requirements, managing interfaces and verification plans, and mitigating technical risks across hardware and software domains.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; onsite or remote within the United States

Salary: $175,000–$195,000 base salary annually

What you will do

  • Develop and review concepts and designs for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft.
  • Define system-level technical visions, mission architectures, and product goals across hardware and software domains.
  • Perform trade studies, system-level analysis, first-order sizing, and generate high-level master equipment and parts lists.
  • Author and manage mission concepts of operations, requirements, launch vehicle requirements, fault management, interfaces, verification plans, and technical risk mitigations.
  • Create technical content for proposals, research and development efforts, and customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines, customers, partners, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, plus 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience; an advanced degree may substitute for equivalent experience.
  • Experience in space system development, systems engineering, or related areas such as avionics, power systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, structures, thermal systems, software, controls, or manufacturing.
  • Experience developing proposal content and external customer presentations.
  • Experience authoring and decomposing mission- and system-level requirements.
  • Strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments.
  • Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR regulations and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with full mission solutions, mission architecture development, or reliability analysis.
  • Knowledge of NASA and industry engineering standards.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with Confluence and Jira.
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
