TL;DR
Systems Engineer I/II Pipeline (Space Systems): Developing and maintaining spacecraft technical budgets, system requirements, verification techniques, simulations, test methods, and design documentation with an accent on hands-on flight hardware and mission development. Focus on defining requirements, planning and executing tests, analyzing vehicle functions, and coordinating interface specifications for civil, commercial, and defense space programs.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. This role is based out of a US office and requires eligibility to access ITAR-regulated technology.

Base salary: $82,400–$126,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $89,350–$143,625 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance.
  • Define system requirements and verification techniques.
  • Develop simulations and analysis across spacecraft and vehicle functions.
  • Plan and execute tests, including test methods and data analysis.
  • Lead and own the technical development of spacecraft missions while working hands-on with flight hardware.
  • Develop interface specifications, CONOPS definitions, and other design documents with cross-functional team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another technical engineering discipline.
  • Engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience supporting satellite or spacecraft development programs.
  • For Systems Engineer II: 2+ years of aerospace engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • US-office candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in engineering.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, including ADCS, EPS, communications, C&DH, and thermal control.
  • Understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, STK, JAMA, or DOORS.
  • Experience with satellite operations and electrical, thermal vacuum, random vibration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
