Java Application Architect

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications and distributed systems operating at significant scale.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical designs and write production-quality Java and Spring Boot code.
• Build and operate cloud-native services and microservices, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and observability.
• Develop responsive, component-driven front-end applications using React.
• Design RESTful APIs and work with relational databases, including query tuning and schema design.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and developers in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience building production-grade enterprise applications; the posting also lists 6+ years of experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Java 11/17, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, data structures, algorithms, computational complexity, and system design.
• Production experience with microservices, React, SQL, relational databases, CI/CD, Git workflows, and at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation skills.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; the role is open to U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates. New H-1B sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent streaming platforms.
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of eventual consistency, CAP trade-offs, idempotency, and saga patterns.
• Experience with automation testing and test-driven or behavior-driven development.
