Java Architect (AI)

Location: Richmond, VA, USA. Hybrid flexibility is available, but employees must be available to work onsite at a client location or hirify.global office as requested.

Salary: USD 140,000–USD 200,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Lead the design and architecture of Java-based solutions tailored to client needs.
• Design, implement, integrate, and support on-premises, cloud, and hybrid solutions.
• Develop APIs, microservices, event-driven integrations, serverless applications, and web or portal front ends.
• Create roadmaps, high-level design documentation, technical estimates, work plans, epics, and stories.
• Develop code hands-on, assess system performance, and implement optimization tools.
• Communicate architectural tradeoffs and support business development through technical demonstrations.

Requirements

• Enterprise-level experience with modern Java, core libraries, and open-source frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in software development, enterprise architecture, and directing technical teams.
• Familiarity with microservices, monitoring tools, databases, and containerization.
• Strong knowledge and application of design patterns and software performance optimization.
• Ability to connect architectural recommendations to business needs and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be authorized to work directly for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience developing agentic AI systems and using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and OpenClaude.
• Experience with AI orchestration, LangChain, vector databases, and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of Spark, Kafka, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• AI/ML or cloud certifications and experience with legacy systems and SaaS architectures.
