Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Applicants must be a U.S. Person under ITAR and EAR regulations and must be eligible to obtain any required export authorizations.

What you will do

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software for bare-metal, real-time operating system, and embedded Linux avionics systems.
• Own software codebases across multiple projects and collaborate on shared codebases.
• Perform design trade studies, select software architectures, scope development work, and implement embedded software for space avionics.
• Work with systems, electrical hardware, project management, and other engineering teams to deliver software within budget and schedule.
• Support hardware bring-up and develop tools and documentation for embedded system usage and testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience developing, testing, and debugging embedded software systems, or 2 years with a master’s degree.
• Programming experience in C, C++, and Python or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with Windows and Linux development environments and the full software development life cycle for complex systems.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person and be eligible to obtain required U.S. export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded Linux drivers, modules, applications, custom board support packages, and Yocto-based systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs and VHDL, deterministic real-time systems, robotic control, or spacecraft instrumentation.
• Knowledge of communication and I/O protocols such as CAN bus, RS-232, RS-422, TCP/IP, or spacecraft communication protocols.
• Experience with Altium, electrical troubleshooting equipment, FDIR, fault-tolerant design, CI/CD, Docker, Agile, and software integration testing.
