Senior Research Associate, In Vitro Screen Execution

Location: Onsite in Palo Alto, California, 5 days per week; occasional weekend work may be required.

Base salary: $84,250–$114,250 per year.

What you will do

• Execute culture, quality control, and validation of complex in vitro 3D neural and glial models.
• Run high-throughput arrayed genetic and chemical perturbation screens for the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative.
• Use cell-based assays, including flow cytometry, imaging, and immunostaining, together with molecular biology techniques to characterize functional effects.
• Maintain efficient, reproducible workflows, detailed electronic lab notebook records, and reagent tracking in LIMS.
• Coordinate screening steps and sample transfers with cross-functional teams.
• Analyze and present experimental data at internal meetings and seminars.

Requirements

• BS degree in a relevant field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or MS degree with 2+ years of relevant postgraduate experience.
• Substantial experience culturing and maintaining human PSC-derived cell types or organoids, such as NPCs, neurons, astrocytes, or microglia.
• Ability to execute and transition accurately between multiple cell culture protocols while maintaining their specific workflows, media, and timelines.
• Experience with complex in vitro co-cultures and readouts including imaging, flow cytometry, qPCR, proteomics, or transcriptomics.
• Excellent aseptic technique, consistent cell-culture practice, meticulous documentation, and basic data tracking and analysis.
• Ability to work onsite in Palo Alto 5 days per week; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput plate formats and laboratory automation.
• Experience with LIMS systems, preferably Benchling.
• Experience analyzing large datasets with Python or R.
