Senior Counsel (Landlord/Tenant)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; remote, hybrid, or onsite work options are available.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys may also receive an annual billable-hours bonus.

What you will do

• Handle habitability claims, landlord-tenant disputes, premises-related issues, general negligence, personal injury, and other civil litigation.
• Independently manage court appearances, depositions, briefs, discovery, and trials.
• Develop compelling case themes and provide strategic direction throughout litigation.
• Communicate routinely with clients and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff across experience levels.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to less experienced attorneys.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-approved school.
• Active license to practice law in California is required.
• At least 8 years of litigation experience, including litigation support, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all aspects of discovery and trial.
• Strong listening, verbal, written communication, independent judgment, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time-management systems.

Nice to have

• Landlord-tenant or habitability litigation experience.
• Experience in real estate litigation, premises liability, general liability, personal injury, elder abuse, nursing home litigation, or related civil practices.
• Insurance defense experience, including familiarity with carrier relationships and billing requirements.
