Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with up to one day per week from home. Offices are located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Base salary: $174,000–$297,000 annually for Maryland. Other listed ranges are $191,000–$327,000 for Washington, D.C., and $218,000–$350,000 for New York and California.

What you will do
- Lead the global litigation and dispute resolution function, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, regulatory investigations, subpoena responses, and enforcement matters.
- Develop litigation strategies with business leaders and outside counsel while balancing legal, financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Advise senior management, business stakeholders, management committees, and the Board on litigation exposure, legal developments, settlements, and risk assessments.
- Manage outside counsel relationships, including selection, retention, performance, staffing, budgeting, and evaluation.
- Partner with Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, Technology, Human Resources, and other functions on investigations, evidence preservation, discovery, and corrective actions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop attorneys and legal professionals while establishing litigation management standards, reporting protocols, reserves, budgets, and performance metrics.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar and ability to become admitted in Maryland.
- 10+ years of litigation experience, including complex commercial litigation, regulatory investigations, or enforcement matters.
- Experience managing outside counsel and litigation budgets.
- Strong strategic judgment, written advocacy, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to influence senior executives and work effectively in a highly regulated environment.
Nice to have
- Experience advising asset managers, investment advisers, broker-dealers, banks, insurers, or other regulated financial institutions.
- Experience with SEC, FINRA, Department of Labor, state attorney general, or other regulatory investigations and enforcement matters.
- Familiarity with securities laws, the Investment Advisers Act, the Investment Company Act, ERISA, and fiduciary-duty litigation.
- Experience leading internal investigations, government subpoena responses, complex e-discovery, and large-scale document productions.
- Experience managing high-value commercial disputes, class actions, securities litigation, or regulatory enforcement matters.
