Network Engineer (Biotech)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts / Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. The role follows a 70/30 work model with 70% in-office collaboration and requires eligibility as a U.S. person under U.S. export control regulations.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, VPN, WAN circuits, CASB, ZTNA, and cloud connectivity.
• Investigate and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 incidents, service requests, latency issues, routing problems, firewall issues, DNS, DHCP, and application access failures.
• Perform packet-level analysis, log review, root-cause investigations, and post-incident follow-up.
• Monitor network availability, performance, and capacity; respond to alerts and improve observability and alert quality.
• Support network changes, upgrades, documentation, runbooks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendors, managed service providers, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders during incidents and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in network engineering, network operations, infrastructure support, or a related technical role.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, switching, routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN, and basic network security.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, WAN circuits, and remote access technologies.
• Familiarity with OSPF, BGP, static routing, IPsec VPN, SD-WAN, and high-availability network designs.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, ITSM, and ticketing platforms such as SolarWinds, Splunk, ThousandEyes, LogicMonitor, PRTG, ServiceNow, or Jira.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws; non-U.S. persons are not eligible and visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, or other regulated enterprise environments.
• CCNA, CCNP, PCNSA, PCNSE, JNCIA, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper, Aruba, F5, Panorama, GlobalProtect, Prisma Access, SASE, or Zero Trust Network Access.
• Experience with firewall logs, network flow data, security alerts, access-control policies, vendors, carriers, and managed service providers.
• Scripting or automation experience with Python, Ansible, APIs, or network automation tools.
