Storage Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $100,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and operate enterprise storage platforms supporting compute, virtualization, database, and Kubernetes workloads.
• Manage block, file, and object storage across data center, edge, and cloud environments.
• Engineer storage solutions using NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, and Ceph.
• Integrate storage with VMware and Kubernetes through CSI.
• Automate storage engineering tasks using Ansible, Terraform, and REST APIs.
• Optimize performance, data protection, capacity, and infrastructure cost while troubleshooting storage, network, and host layers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of enterprise storage engineering experience; the position overview specifies 8+ years of experience.
• Deep expertise in NetApp ONTAP or Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade, plus production-scale Ceph experience.
• Strong knowledge of SAN, NAS, and object storage protocols.
• Experience integrating storage with VMware and Kubernetes, including CSI.
• Strong scripting, automation, performance, capacity planning, cost optimization, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• NCDA, NCIE, or Pure Storage certifications.
• Hybrid-cloud storage replication and software-defined storage experience beyond Ceph.
• Object storage experience at petabyte scale.
• Exposure to AI/ML workloads with extreme I/O requirements.
