Service Technician Professional (Commercial Refrigeration)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina, United States. Onsite, full-time position; night and weekend work may be required.

What you will do

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex systems, including parallel racks, compressors, oil management systems, thermostatic expansion valves, controls, and advanced wiring.
• Perform refrigerant and oil conversions, leak detection and repair, brazing, soldering, electrical welding, and compressor replacement.
• Manage vehicle inventory, parts, documentation, electronic paperwork, invoicing, and assigned company vehicle maintenance.
• Act as a technical resource for other technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive maintenance programs while identifying potential sales opportunities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least 7 years of field experience, or 5 years with a technical school certification; internal candidates need 3 years as a certified technician with completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record are required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of hand tools, refrigeration and HVAC systems, decision-making, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, serve as a technical resource, climb ladders, work at elevated heights, crouch and walk long distances, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Availability for onsite work, including nights and weekends when required.

Nice to have

• HVAC/R technical school degree.
• Commercial refrigeration experience.
• Understanding of CO2 refrigeration systems.
