Service Technician - Professional (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Diagnose complex service calls involving refrigerant systems, thermostatic expansion valves, pressure regulators, compressors, oil management, and parallel racks.
• Install and adjust refrigeration components, glass doors, frames, drain pipes, coils, wiring, motors, controls, and defrost systems.
• Detect and repair leaks, perform refrigerant and oil conversions, solder and weld multiple metal types, and replace compressors.
• Manage vehicle inventory, parts orders, documentation, invoicing, and electronic service communications.
• Lead HVAC/R preventive-maintenance programs and provide technical guidance to other technicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC-R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least 7 years of field experience, or 5 years with technical school certification; internal candidates require 3 years as a certified technician plus completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, hand-tool skills, electrical and refrigeration knowledge, decision-making, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends, climb ladders, work at high elevations, crouch and walk distances, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• HVAC-R technical school degree.
• Advanced commercial refrigeration experience, including CO2 refrigeration.
