Trade Compliance Manager (Aerospace)

Location: United States; headquartered in north Austin, Texas. To comply with U.S. space technology export regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Develop and implement export compliance programs covering U.S. EAR, ITAR, sanctions, customs, and global trade regulations.
• Conduct trade compliance due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, including sanctions screening and ITAR registration reviews.
• Perform foreign national reviews, deemed export assessments, and export license determinations for employees, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
• Provide guidance on EAR, ITAR, sanctions, classifications, export licensing, and related authorizations.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, legal, tax, HR, and IT teams to build scalable compliance solutions.
• Lead process improvements and resolve ambiguous cross-functional compliance challenges with minimal direction.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of operational export compliance experience in aerospace, defense, satellite, or another regulated industry.
• Deep knowledge of ITAR and EAR, including USML and CCL classifications and export licensing.
• Hands-on experience managing Technical Assistance Agreements or similar export authorizations, including drafting, amendments, and proviso compliance.
• Experience with deemed export determinations, Technology Control Plans, or foreign visitor reviews.
• Strong stakeholder management, written communication, problem-solving, project ownership, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with DECCS, SNAP-R, Visual Compliance, ACE, or similar tools; ability to travel domestically 5–10% as required.

Nice to have

• Commercial space experience involving launch vehicles, satellites, lunar landers, or spacecraft.
• Active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance, or ability to obtain one.
• Experience with international operations, launch-site compliance, foreign manufacturing, or multi-country regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems, compliance automation, workflow tools, or scalable process development.
• Aerospace OEM, supplier, contractor, or subcontractor experience.
