Trade Compliance Specialist (Aerospace)

Location: Austin, TX or Washington, D.C.; hybrid on-site with up to 5% travel. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Manage day-to-day import and export compliance activities across products, partnerships, programs, and international engagements.
• Perform restricted-party and denied-party screening, foreign-person reviews, visitor controls, access reviews, certifications, and related documentation.
• Prepare, submit, administer, and track DDTC and BIS licenses, agreements, authorizations, classifications, notifications, and regulatory correspondence through DECCS and SNAP-R.
• Conduct jurisdiction and classification analyses for software, source code, technical data, hardware, and integrated systems under USML and CCL/ECCN frameworks.
• Administer ITAR exemptions, EAR license exceptions, Technology Control Plans, Technology Transfer Plans, records, training, audits, corrective actions, and the Export Management and Compliance Program.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Security, Contracts, Business Development, People Operations, Finance, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to control technical data, shipments, releases, and transfers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on U.S. import, export, or trade compliance experience, including ITAR and EAR.
• In-depth knowledge of ITAR, EAR, the Commerce Control List, ECCNs, and deemed-export concepts.
• Experience preparing, administering, or tracking DDTC and/or BIS licenses, agreements, authorizations, or classification requests, including DSP-5s, TAAs, or MLAs.
• Experience with DECCS, SNAP-R, restricted-party screening, Technology Control Plans, Technology Transfer Plans, and audit-ready recordkeeping.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or higher DoD security clearance.
• Experience in defense technology, aerospace, autonomous systems, robotics, ITAR manufacturing/exporting, or government contracting.
• Experience with OFAC sanctions, commodity classifications, license exceptions, audits, investigations, voluntary disclosures, or corrective actions.
• Graduate degree or certification such as CECP, LCB, or CUSECO.
