Trade Compliance Manager (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead and continuously improve the integrated Germany Trade Compliance Programme.
• Manage export control, sanctions, import compliance, customs, product origin, valuation, FTAs, duty optimisation, and CBAM activities.
• Coordinate BAFA licence applications, regulatory correspondence, customs authorisations, audits, and voluntary disclosures.
• Conduct classification, jurisdiction, and licensing reviews for products, software, technology, and technical data.
• Develop policies, procedures, training, monitoring, corrective actions, and compliant recordkeeping.
• Partner with Engineering, Programmes, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Contracts, Finance, Legal, and executive leadership, while liaising with German and European authorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in customs and export compliance.
• Strong knowledge of German and EU export control regulations, customs legislation, valuation, tariff classification, and origin.
• Experience with BAFA, German Customs, import/export authorisations, customs audits, and ERP or Global Trade Management systems such as SAP GTS.
• Working knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and OFAC requirements affecting European businesses.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English.

• Experience in aerospace, defence, satellite, or telecommunications industries.
• Professional customs or export compliance certification.
• Experience implementing AEO or customs special procedures.
• Experience supporting multinational supply chains and localisation programmes.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain German, NATO, or EU security clearance where required.
