Staff Actuary (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the United States; corporate roles are not hired in Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont, or Wisconsin.

Compensation: $176,599–$228,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead actuarial and financial value strategy, including savings, ROI, and actuarial methodologies.
• Use medical and pharmacy claims data to quantify clinical and financial impact.
• Design and evaluate performance guarantees, value-based contracts, and other risk arrangements.
• Partner with Commercial Leadership, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Executive Leadership on pricing, benefits, products, and go-to-market strategy.
• Represent Virta’s actuarial perspective in sales, renewal, client, consultant, and market conversations.
• Build scalable models, standards, tools, and processes while mentoring actuarial and analytics talent.

Requirements

• FSA or ASA designation and 12+ years of relevant experience in healthcare actuarial work, healthcare economics, consulting, payer strategy, employer benefits, or a related field.
• Deep experience with medical and pharmacy claims, healthcare cost savings, and value-based care economics.
• Strong SQL skills and the ability to independently work with complex healthcare datasets.
• Ability to use AI and emerging tools to accelerate analysis and improve workflow scalability.
• Experience evaluating performance guarantees, value-based arrangements, pricing strategies, or financial risk.
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analyses clearly to actuaries, clients, commercial leaders, and executives.
