TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Development Engineer (Robotics): Developing automated manufacturing equipment and production processes for fusion energy hardware with an accent on industrial robotics, mechanical design, machine vision, and process reliability. Focus on integrating automation from concept through commissioning, optimizing cycle times and material flow, and solving manufacturing risks through DFMEA, PFMEA, and cross-functional system integration.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; full-time onsite at the headquarters

What you will do

  • Lead the design and deployment of automated manufacturing equipment using industrial robotics, motion systems, sensors, and machine vision.
  • Define reliable, scalable, and maintainable system architectures and support integration with PLC, HMI, communications, and data acquisition systems.
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks, applying GD&T and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Own manufacturing robotics and capital equipment projects from concept through prototyping, commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing.
  • Optimize cycle times, material flow, automation ROI, and work-in-process buffering to improve production output.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, facilities, procurement, suppliers, and system integrators while preparing technical documentation and safety risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in production line development.
  • Experience integrating industrial robotic systems, machine vision, sensors, and closed-loop feedback for precision automation.
  • Strong mechanical design skills with SolidWorks, GD&T, and drawing release for automated equipment.
  • Experience delivering manufacturing robotics or capital equipment projects and using Jira or an equivalent project tracking system.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, current U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience developing technical specifications and coordinating external vendors and system integrators.
