TL;DR
Senior Biomedical Research & Data Governance (Human Biomedical Data and Privacy Compliance): Leading governance frameworks, data-sharing agreements, and compliance processes for biomedical research involving human subject data with an accent on research ethics, IRB requirements, HIPAA, and responsible data stewardship. Focus on evaluating data sensitivity, negotiating sharing terms, monitoring compliance, investigating incidents, and integrating AI into governance workflows and training.

Location: Remote or hybrid within the United States; travel to Seattle, Washington, is required at least twice per year for on-site events.

Annual salary: $93,300–$121,700.

What you will do

  • Lead research governance policies, processes, and oversight across biomedical research programs.
  • Develop governance systems for scientific consortia, working groups, and institutional partners.
  • Evaluate data sensitivity and design responsible data-sharing approaches, including access controls.
  • Monitor ethical, legal, and institutional compliance; support incident investigations and CAPA plans.
  • Develop and negotiate data-sharing agreements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create governance standards, documentation, training materials, and presentations, including responsible AI practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, public health, public administration, social sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience working with human biomedical research data.
  • Hands-on experience preparing Institutional Review Board submissions, preferably for multi-site protocols.
  • Knowledge of human research regulations, research ethics, HIPAA compliance, legal language, and data use agreements.
  • Experience developing or improving SOPs, investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis, and preparing CAPA plans.
  • Strong communication, organizational, documentation, digital literacy, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with research communities, consortia, or institutional partnerships.
  • Experience using Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Confluence, or Jira.
  • Experience applying AI or other emerging technologies to governance and process improvement.
