Location: Fully remote, nationwide within the United States; U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements. Travel to inspection sites varies by project demand and geographic coverage.

What you will do

  • Conduct forensic investigations of electrical failures, electrical fires, equipment malfunctions, power distribution systems, power surges, lightning damage, and arc fault events.
  • Perform site inspections and collect field data, measurements, photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze electrical systems, components, and equipment to determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures or damage.
  • Evaluate compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable standards, and industry practices.
  • Prepare technically sound forensic engineering reports and communicate findings to clients, attorneys, insurers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide litigation support and participate in depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings as an expert witness when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing; multiple state licenses are preferred.
  • Experience investigating electrical failures, fires, equipment damage, power quality issues, or related loss-causation matters.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including the NEC, plus experience with troubleshooting, testing, or failure analysis.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently to inspection sites.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements: U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Prior forensic engineering or forensic electrical consulting experience.
  • Experience with fire origin and cause investigations involving electrical systems.
  • Experience providing litigation support, depositions, or expert testimony.
  • Multiple state PE licenses.
