Mechanic Diesel Engine (Diesel Locomotives)

Location: Temple, Texas, United States; onsite attendance at the designated work location is required.

Salary: $38.97–$46.39 per hour, with annual pay of $81,052–$96,491 based on 3–5 years of seniority.

What you will do

• Inspect, repair, and maintain diesel locomotive engines and mechanical components.
• Repair running gear, including wheels, springs, hangers, brake rigging, and traction motors.
• Test and restore brake systems, couplers, draft systems, air compressors, safety valves, fuel systems, radiators, and related equipment.
• Install, disassemble, assemble, repair, and replace locomotive diesel engine components.
• Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air equipment, and locomotive trucks while following safety procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to report for duty in Temple, Texas, and work onsite.
• Must be able to work in the United States without BNSF sponsorship or assistance for employment authorization, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, and TN status.
• At least 18 years old by the anticipated start date.
• Ability to work full-time shifts, including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts in a 24/7 shop.
• Ability to communicate in English, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, use hand tools, climb ladders, and work at heights.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license, normal color vision, and ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
