Network Automation Engineer (Python)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 annually

What you will do

• Build production-grade automation for network configuration, change management, and observability across multi-vendor enterprise networks.
• Develop Python automation using modern network APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD practices.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into reliable solutions with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Participate in code and design reviews and mentor more junior engineers.
• Apply software engineering discipline to network operations and production delivery.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience, including at least five years in network automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
• Strong Python development skills, including object-oriented programming, testing, and packaging.
• Deep networking fundamentals covering routing, switching, and BGP.
• Hands-on experience with Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or Scrapli; modern network APIs such as NETCONF, RESTCONF, or gNMI; and Ansible with Jinja2.
• Experience with NetBox, Nautobot, Git workflows, and CI/CD, together with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Cisco DevNet or vendor automation certifications.
• Experience with Cisco, Arista, and Juniper multi-vendor networks.
• Familiarity with streaming telemetry and modern observability stacks.
• Open-source contributions to network automation projects.
• Cloud networking automation experience alongside on-premises environments.
