Senior Network Engineer (Python)

Location: Bethesda, Maryland; full-time onsite at NIH-NCBI with an option for some remote work

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and location.

What you will do

• Design and deploy high-performance Spine-and-Leaf network architectures for hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
• Configure and manage Arista EOS, CloudVision, and F5 BIG-IP platforms, including virtual servers, pools, iRules, and device clusters.
• Implement routing, VXLAN, EVPN, load balancing, and high-availability configurations.
• Automate network management and operational workflows using Python and Linux tools.
• Lead technical investigations, resolve complex network issues, mentor team members, and act as a subject matter expert.
• Manage network device patching, hardware lifecycle transitions, monitoring, traffic analysis, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Arista EOS, CloudVision, and F5 BIG-IP.
• Expertise with BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, and EVPN.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and network automation.
• Strong knowledge of AAA frameworks, including TACACS+ and RADIUS for device administration security in Cisco ISE.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Nice to have

• CCIE or a similar advanced networking certification.
