Senior Network Engineer

Location: Full-time onsite at NIH-NCBI in Bethesda, Maryland, with an option for some remote work

Targeted salary range: $110,000–$160,000 per year, commensurate with experience and location.

What you will do

• Design and implement high-performance Spine-and-Leaf network architectures.
• Configure and manage Arista EOS, CloudVision, and F5 BIG-IP platforms, including virtual servers, pools, iRules, and device clusters.
• Modernize legacy networks for hybrid and cloud-native environments while resolving complex network issues.
• Automate network management with Python and Linux tools.
• Implement load balancing and high-availability strategies, including active/standby and active/active failover.
• Lead and mentor team members, manage complex issues, maintain network devices, and provide network metrics for capacity planning and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Arista EOS/CloudVision and F5 BIG-IP.
• Expertise in BGP, OSPF, VxLAN, and EVPN.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and network automation.
• Hands-on experience with AAA frameworks, TACACS+, and RADIUS for device administration security in Cisco ISE.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
