Network Automation Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $85,000–$120,000 annually

What you will do

• Build production-grade automation for network configuration, change management, and observability across multi-vendor enterprise networks.
• Develop Python-based automation using modern network APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD practices.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions with product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Participate in code and design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Deliver reliable automation that meets production engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
• At least five years of network automation experience; the position listing also specifies six or more years of experience.
• Strong Python development skills, including object-oriented programming, testing, and packaging.
• Deep networking knowledge covering routing, switching, and BGP.
• Hands-on experience with Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, or Scrapli; modern network APIs such as NETCONF, RESTCONF, or gNMI; and Ansible with Jinja2 templating.
• Experience with NetBox, Nautobot, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD, plus strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Cisco DevNet or vendor automation certifications.
• Experience with Cisco, Arista, and Juniper multi-vendor networks.
• Familiarity with streaming telemetry and modern observability stacks.
• Open-source contributions to network automation projects.
• Experience automating cloud networking in addition to on-premises environments.
