Data Center Operations Analyst (Satellite Communications)

Location: On-site at the Reston, Virginia data center. Travel up to 50%.

Salary: $70,500–$111,000 annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $87,000–$131,000 annually.

What you will do

• Define, document, deploy, troubleshoot, and support data center infrastructure for commercial broadband satellite communication ground systems.
• Rack, cable, deploy, integrate, and validate servers and network hardware according to provided designs.
• Build and verify deployments, conduct testing and checkout procedures, and maintain operational systems.
• Work with Server and Network Engineering teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues and isolate faults.
• Coordinate with colocation facility teams, third-party vendors, and Remote Hands teams on site operations, access, power, cooling, and security.
• Perform site visits, audits, and physical verification of rack elevations, floor plans, power, cabling, and data center organization.

Requirements

• On-site work at the Reston, Virginia data center is required.
• US citizenship is required.
• Hands-on physical data center or colocation experience with large-scale networking and communication systems.
• Experience with data center device deployment, racking, cabling, rack elevation design, and cabling documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot, replace, and repair failed hardware components and devices.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, plus strong problem-solving, teamwork, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Fiber optic troubleshooting experience using light meters and loopback testers.
• RF Gateway, satellite, or wireless deployment experience.
• Patch Manager or other DCIM and cable management tools.
• Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, switches, and routers; Linux command-line and scripting experience with Python, Bash, or REST APIs.
• Experience with high-density environments, power and cooling best practices, or AI Claude.
