TL;DR

Location: 100% onsite at the facility in San Jose, California, USA

Salary: $112,050–$160,050 per year

What you will do

  • Integrate wafer-processing steps and modules into process flows for III-V laser chip products, including Edge Emitting Lasers and VCSELs.
  • Develop robust process modules for novel chips and prepare them for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Design, build, configure, and improve custom optical-table tools involving mechanical systems, optics, and control automation.
  • Support daily production as the process expert by resolving manufacturing issues and providing off-hours consultation when needed.
  • Lead chip failure analysis and troubleshoot root causes of yield, process, and performance excursions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, Testing, Reliability, and foundry teams to improve yield, reduce costs and defects, minimize cycle time, and deliver NPI projects on schedule.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 3+ years of applicable hands-on experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of applicable hands-on experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on expertise in III-V compound semiconductor wafer processing, including optical grating patterning, lithography, dry and wet etching, dielectric and metal deposition, implantation, and diffusion.
  • Proficiency in Excel VBA macros, LabVIEW, and C++, Visual Basic, or Matlab.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis using JMP and Minitab, including FMEA, Capability Analysis, SPC, DOE, and Design for Manufacturing.
  • Experience in high-volume semiconductor wafer fabrication, including MES, process and quality management systems, and change management.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in San Jose, California, provide occasional round-the-clock fab support, solve problems collaboratively, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively.
