Utilities Maintenance Technician Lead - Level 6

Location: Onsite in De Soto, Kansas, United States. All candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.

What you will do

• Oversee and perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and utility systems.
• Lead responses to major utility outages and critical system failures, including root-cause investigations and long-term corrective actions.
• Define and standardize maintenance strategies, troubleshooting methods, repair approaches, and escalation protocols.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements with a focus on maintainability and reliability.
• Provide technical direction and mentoring to Level 5 and junior technicians without formal hiring or disciplinary authority.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Operations, vendors, and contractors while maintaining CMMS records and daily shift reports.

Requirements

• 5+ years of advanced experience in industrial maintenance, facilities, or utility systems.
• Expert knowledge of multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and/or pneumatic systems.
• Ability to analyze infrastructure dependencies, define reliability improvements, and lead complex technical decisions.
• Knowledge of electrical safety in the workplace and applicable EHS standards, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and permitting requirements.
• High school diploma, GED, or two years of relevant experience.
• Working-level English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking, plus unrestricted U.S. work authorization required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of related industrial maintenance experience or HVAC journeyman/mechanic experience.
• Trade school or vocational training.
• Familiarity with CMMS and building management systems.
• Certifications such as NFPA 70E/70B, OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, EPA Section 608 HVAC, CPR, QET, PIT, or MEWP.
