Facilities Fire Systems Technician - Level 5 (Fire Protection)

What you will do

• Perform advanced inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and diagnostics for fire alarm, suppression, extinguisher, and life-safety systems.
• Lead troubleshooting and restoration efforts for complex system failures, thermal events, impairments, and unwanted activations.
• Provide technical oversight of contractors and validate inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance documentation.
• Analyze system performance data, conduct root-cause evaluations, and improve preventive maintenance and reliability practices.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Facilities Operations and Maintenance, EHS, contractors, external agencies, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to Level 3 and Level 4 technicians.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or two years of prior fire protection or related experience, plus a current state-issued driver's license.
• At least four years of experience as a Fire Systems Technician or in a relevant field; eight or more years is preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience with low-voltage systems and knowledge of water-based fire protection systems, including wet, dry, standpipe, and hydrant systems.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, technical manuals, and sequences of operation independently.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift equipment, and comply with PPE requirements.
• Working-level English is required, and candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or technical training in fire protection, fire science, electrical technology, industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, engineering, or a related field.
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B, NICET, or manufacturer-specific certifications and training.
• Experience with AHJ inspections, fire protection upgrades, retrofits, capital projects, or industrial and large-campus environments.
