Service Technician - Qualified (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and temperature-controlled merchandisers under the direction of a Master or Lead Service Technician.
• Assist with compressor changes, leak searches, coil washing, de-icing, fan motor replacement, condenser cleaning, evacuation, charging, pump-down, and defrost procedures.
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, refrigeration cycle diagnostics, and interpretation of temperature and pressure charts.
• Complete work tickets, timesheets, customer paperwork, invoices, and electronic communications accurately and on time.
• Maintain truck inventory and equipment, use standard refrigeration tools, and build professional customer relationships.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least two years of field experience, or no experience with technical school certification; internal candidates need one year as a General Laborer with completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal certification and familiarity with HVAC heating and cooling concepts, basic electrical schematics, refrigeration, and mechanical maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record in accordance with fleet policy.
• Ability to walk long distances, crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends as required, with strong communication, decision-making, organizational, and paperwork skills.
