Service Technician - Certified (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration, heating, and air-conditioning systems in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.
• Search for and repair leaks, replace compressors and motors, install walk-in cases, troubleshoot TEVs, and service rack systems.
• Perform evacuation, charging, pump-down, defrost, recovery, and related refrigeration-system procedures.
• Complete work tickets, timesheets, customer paperwork, and invoicing using a handheld computer.
• Manage truck inventory, maintain the service vehicle, and communicate equipment issues professionally to customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC-R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least five years of field experience, or three years with technical-school certification for external candidates.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Knowledge of commercial refrigeration, HVAC systems, basic electrical schematics, refrigeration controls, motors, refrigerants, and hand tools.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends, climb ladders, work at heights, crouch, walk significant distances, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Strong verbal and written communication, decision-making, documentation, mechanical aptitude, and customer-service skills.
