TL;DR
Senior Hardware/Software Installation Technician (IT Infrastructure): Conducting technical site surveys and installing, configuring, and testing IT hardware and software for US Army network modernization with an accent on infrastructure readiness, structured cabling, power and cooling requirements, and DoD security baselines. Focus on producing Site Survey Reports and Installation Design Plans, troubleshooting field interoperability issues, and coordinating deployments requiring 90% travel across CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations.

Location: Remote with 90% travel for CONUS deployments and potentially OCONUS locations.

Salary: $74,700 per year.

What you will do

  • Conduct physical site surveys at military installations to validate power, space, cooling, and connectivity requirements.
  • Analyze fiber and copper cabling, patch panels, conduit, and other network infrastructure to define upgrade requirements.
  • Produce Site Survey Reports, Installation Design Plans, floor plans, rack elevations, power calculations, and Bills of Materials.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, crypto devices, UPS units, operating systems, and associated firmware.
  • Apply Windows/Linux system baselines and STIGs, then perform burn-in testing and final system validation.
  • Lead field coordination, mentor technicians, provide status updates and After Action Reports, and work with project, program, government, and engineering stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Active SECRET clearance required to start; Top Secret preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or Engineering and at least five years of hardware/software integration and structured cabling experience.
  • Experience conducting site surveys in Department of Defense or federal government environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for network diagrams and rack elevations; AutoCAD experience supports the role.
  • Knowledge of NEMA plugs, UPS sizing, BTU calculations, and fiber optic and copper cabling standards including single-mode, multi-mode, and CAT6.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time for CONUS and potentially OCONUS deployments. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces is required.

Nice to have

  • US Army Signal Brigade, DISA, or DoDIN network installation and modernization experience.
  • BICSI Technician or RCDD certification.
  • Computer-aided design experience in IT environments.
