TL;DR
Technical Designer (Apparel) (Patternmaking/Technical Product Development): Developing and finalizing apparel patterns, technical specifications, materials, and production-ready technical packages across seasonal product categories with an accent on 2D and 3D pattern development, fit blocks, and quality standards. Focus on solving pre-production pattern and construction issues, coordinating cross-functional approvals, and delivering accurate specifications to manufacturing partners on schedule.

What you will do

  • Develop and finalize pre-production patterns, technical construction specifications, materials, and complete technical packages for seasonal apparel development.
  • Manage timelines and workflows against brand go-to-market milestones, quality standards, margin targets, and price targets.
  • Develop new and existing fit blocks using 2D and 3D patternmaking while maintaining technical construction, materials, labeling, packaging, and folding specifications.
  • Coordinate with Production Technical Design, Design, Merchandising, Manufacturing, overseas offices, field manufacturing, and vendor suppliers to deliver production-ready packages.
  • Resolve pattern, construction, quality, finishing, findings, and systems issues during pre-production, escalating exceptions when necessary.
  • Adopt new technologies, systems, and tools and help identify and deploy cross-functional best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of apparel manufacturing experience, including extensive knowledge of patternmaking, technical product development processes, and related systems.
  • 5+ years of in-depth knowledge of end-to-end product manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product development, manufacturing, sourcing, or operations; jeanswear bottoms or tops experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
  • High proficiency with Illustrator and Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Teams, and Excel.
  • Strong organization, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

  • Lectra AccuMark 2D patternmaking and Browzwear VStitcher 3D patternmaking experience.
  • Smartsheet knowledge.
  • PLM experience.
  • Experience with denim and non-denim bottoms, knit and woven tops, sweaters, or outerwear.
