TL;DR
Customs Trade Compliance and Operations Manager (Customs and Trade Compliance): Overseeing import and export compliance, customs operations, regulatory reporting, and trusted trade programs across Panasonic business divisions with an accent on CBSA, US CBP, tariff classification, and customs documentation. Focus on managing non-resident importer processes, responding to audits and rulings, maintaining compliance systems, and leading customs staff.

Location: Hybrid, with office-based work performed in Mississauga, Canada. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of application. Visa or work permit sponsorship is not offered.

Salary: $72,985–$115,000 CAD annually, plus eligibility for a maximum annual bonus of 10% of base salary.

What you will do

  • Oversee import and export reporting, customs entries, claims, documentation, free trade agreement certificates, and duty-rate applications.
  • Manage compliance with CBSA, US CBP, Partner Government Agency, trusted trader, controlled materials, and hazardous goods requirements.
  • Maintain US non-resident importer processes, including ACE, ACH, broker agreements, customs master data, and import/export documentation.
  • Monitor regulatory and tariff classification changes, manage customs rulings and audits, and implement corrective actions to reduce compliance and financial risk.
  • Maintain customs procedures, records, reports, systems, vendor contracts, and opportunities for duty recovery, drawback, or duty relief.
  • Lead customs staff through hiring support, performance management, coaching, training, and development.

Requirements

  • Two-year community college diploma with seven years of related experience, or an acceptable equivalent; management experience required.
  • Certified Customs Specialist designation and Licensed Customs Broker certification required, including Canadian CCS and CTCS with CSCB and US CCS with NCBFAA.
  • Experience with Descartes Visual Compliance, CARM, PIP, ACE Portal, and SAP.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage customs compliance, select freight carriers, coordinate with government offices and trade compliance teams, and influence procedural changes.
  • Must already be legally eligible to work in Canada; sponsorship is not available.
