International Trade Compliance Specialist

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Canadian citizenship required

Salary: CAD 65,000–75,000 annual

hirify.global’s Global Asset Management group provides manufacturing, supply chain, property management, and import/export trade compliance services for commercial and government customers across more than 20 locations.

What you will do

• Coordinate and track inbound and outbound shipments, monitoring delivery and customs clearance timelines.
• Prepare and review bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other shipping documents.
• Ensure imports and exports comply with customs regulations, tariffs, trade agreements, licenses, embargoes, and government restrictions.
• Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, logistics providers, internal departments, and government agencies.
• Classify goods under Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes and maintain shipment, customs entry, duty, and compliance records.
• Support audits, government inquiries, compliance reviews, and improvements to shipping and customs processes.

Requirements

• Canadian citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, plus at least 1 year of related experience; equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree.
• Canadian Society of Customs Brokers Certified Trade Compliance Specialist certification, or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of import/export documentation and U.S. or international customs procedures.
• Familiarity with HTS, Incoterms, and trade compliance regulations including ITAR and EAR.
• Availability for second-shift coverage Tuesday–Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. after initial training.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with SAP.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
