Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Remote, based in the United States

Salary: $160,000–$294,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead a customer-facing product engineering team of senior engineers building React Native mobile and Next.js web experiences.
• Own team outcomes, people development, engineering craft, hiring, and performance management.
• Shape the roadmap with Product and Design, bringing recommendations on product opportunities, data, and AI capabilities.
• Lead an AI-native workflow across planning, product definition, development, code review, and testing.
• Build compounding systems and capabilities rather than isolated features, while balancing speed, polish, accuracy, reliability, and customer feedback.
• Communicate the team’s strategy, roadmap, rationale, and progress to peers, partners, and leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on individual contributor work.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams; this is not a first-time management role.
• Experience leading an AI-native product engineering team and explaining lessons learned from the transition.
• Technical credibility with a modern web or mobile product stack and the ability to discuss architecture and tradeoffs with engineers.
• Experience with product outcomes, data, experimentation, measurement, ambiguity, and hiring engineers to a high performance bar.
• Strong product and business judgment, including deciding what to build, what to cut, and how to validate decisions quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer fintech.
• Experience with React Native, Next.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, Apollo, or a comparable cross-platform mobile and web stack.
• Experience with personalization, recommendations, and systems built on customer data.
• Experience partnering with compliance and security, defining operating models, or coaching other managers.
