TL;DR
Assembly Technician – Technical Center Workshop (Automotive): Building, reworking, validating, and repairing prototype, pre-series, and development vehicles with an accent on interior and exterior systems, fit-and-finish, diagnostics, and functional testing. Focus on hands-on vehicle assembly and disassembly, root cause analysis, mechanical and basic electrical repairs, measurement equipment installation, and collaboration with engineering and test teams.

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; daily onsite attendance required. Occasional travel may be required for vehicle builds, testing activities, and company events. A valid driver's license is required.

Initial base hourly rate: $26.00–$34.00 per hour. Full-time, exempt position with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Support technical center workshop activities for vehicle builds, rework, validation, and production readiness.
  • Assemble and disassemble vehicles, including dashboards, interior trim, exterior trim, and related hardware.
  • Perform part alignment, test fits, and fit-and-finish validation for prototype, pre-series, and development vehicles.
  • Diagnose reported issues, perform root cause analysis, repair mechanical and basic electrical malfunctions, and replace components.
  • Install and remove vehicle measurement and data acquisition equipment, and maintain accurate service and rework records.
  • Conduct short functional and validation drives, support onboarding, and collaborate with engineering and test teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in automotive production, especially assembly rework.
  • Hands-on experience with interior and exterior vehicle systems, trim removal, reinstallation, and alignment.
  • Ability to read and follow technical service procedures, assembly instructions, and retrofit documentation.
  • Experience in a workshop, prototype, pre-series, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles for functional verification and testing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field, or state mechanic certifications.
  • Knowledge of vehicle alignment, A/C systems, driver-assistance sensor calibration, and vehicle communication networks including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with vehicle integration software, data collection tools, hybrid or electric vehicles, and high-voltage systems.
