Principal Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; hybrid work required

What you will do

• Set technical direction for Resource Sharing engineering initiatives and support reliable, scalable, customer-focused software delivery.
• Translate architectural direction into practical implementation plans and scalable designs with the Senior Architect.
• Lead development of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, integrations, and data platforms supporting resource-sharing workflows.
• Evaluate technical trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and operational considerations for complex initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering quality, maintainability, security, delivery standards, and operational excellence.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, and domain experts on technical plans, roadmaps, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled development practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience delivering complex enterprise software systems.
• Expert Java skills with object-oriented design, design patterns, Spring, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, Hibernate, RESTful APIs, and web services.
• Experience with React and TypeScript, PostgreSQL data modeling and query optimization, and distributed systems and microservices in Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket or GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, JUnit, Mockito, Gradle, Maven, and secure software development practices.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical initiatives, collaborating with architects and stakeholders, and evaluating AI tools or frameworks in the software development lifecycle.

• MongoDB, Snowflake, cloud platforms, containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Observability and monitoring tools.
