Senior Engineering Manager (Workers KV)

Location: Hybrid in Lisbon or London; offer-stage candidates may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Lead a team building Workers KV, a global, low-latency key-value storage platform.
• Shape product features and improve performance for high-read-volume APIs and websites.
• Hire, onboard, mentor, and support the professional development of engineers.
• Plan and oversee execution to meet engineering commitments predictably.
• Build technical solutions that connect business goals with scalable distributed systems.
• Implement tools, processes, instrumentation, and methodologies while resolving delivery blockers.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of recent professional experience with TypeScript or Go.
• Experience leading and hiring teams that build distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
• Experience building scalable developer APIs and delivering technical solutions in ambiguous environments.
• Deep understanding of the web, including browsers, HTTP, JavaScript, and WebAssembly.
• Strong communication, planning, execution, and people-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building high-performance distributed systems or operating critical cloud and serverless infrastructure.
• Deep Linux/UNIX, kernel, or networking knowledge.
• Experience with distributed storage and cache architectures.
• Large open-source project contributions.
• Experience debugging, optimizing, and identifying failure modes in large-scale Linux-based systems.
